How to calculate LED wall size

An LED wall is built from cabinets. Our cabinets are 500 × 500 mm, so the width and height of the screen change in 0.5 m steps. Our own P2.6 cabinets can also form a curved wall, up to 10° per joint.

  • Cabinets across = width (m) ÷ 0.5, cabinets down = height (m) ÷ 0.5
  • Screen area (m²) = width (m) × height (m)
  • Pixels across = width (mm) ÷ pixel pitch (mm), pixels down = height (mm) ÷ pixel pitch (mm)

Example: a 4 × 2.5 m wall is 8 × 5 = 40 cabinets and 10 m². In P2.6 it shows 1536 × 960 pixels.

LED wall resolution by pixel pitch

Pixel pitch is the distance between the centres of neighbouring pixels. The smaller the pitch, the more pixels per metre and the closer your audience can stand.

Pixel pitchPixels per metrePixels per m²4 × 2.5 m wallTypical use
P1.95122621442048 × 1280Close viewing: small stands and studio sets
P2.63841474561536 × 960Conferences and trade-show stands; our own stock in Warsaw (200 cabinets)
P2.93361128961344 × 840Stages and larger halls
P3.9256655361024 × 640Large stages; outdoor IP65 screens from P3.9

Values for 500 mm modules with a pitch of 1.95, 2.6, 2.98 and 3.91 mm. Rule of thumb: the minimum comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pitch in millimetres.

Aspect ratio: 16:9 or 4:3

Match the screen to your content. Video and most presentations are 16:9; older slide decks are 4:3. With 0.5 m cabinets:

  • Exact 16:9: 8 × 4.5 m (16 × 9 cabinets)
  • Close to 16:9 (1.75:1): 3.5 × 2 m and 7 × 4 m
  • Exact 4:3: 2 × 1.5 m, 4 × 3 m and 6 × 4.5 m
  • Wide or custom formats: prepare content at the exact pixel resolution of the wall

From calculation to quote

LED wall calculator: questions and answers

How do I calculate the size of an LED wall?

Count the cabinets across and down.

Our LED walls are built from 500 × 500 mm cabinets, so width and height change in 0.5 m steps. A 4 × 2.5 m wall is 8 cabinets across and 5 down: 40 cabinets and 10 m². Start from your content format and the distance to the furthest viewer, then set the width and height in the calculator above.

How many pixels is a P2.9 LED wall?

About 336 pixels per metre in each direction.

P2.9 modules have a pitch of about 2.98 mm, so one metre of screen holds about 336 pixels. A 4 × 2.5 m P2.9 wall shows roughly 1344 × 840 pixels. Our own P2.6 cabinets show 192 × 192 pixels each, or 384 pixels per metre.

What aspect ratio should my LED wall be?

Match your content — usually 16:9.

Video and most presentations are 16:9; some slide decks are 4:3. With 0.5 m cabinets an exact 16:9 wall is 8 × 4.5 m, while 3.5 × 2 m and 7 × 4 m are close (1.75:1). Exact 4:3 walls are 2 × 1.5 m, 4 × 3 m and 6 × 4.5 m. For any other format, prepare content at the exact pixel resolution of the wall.

How much power does an LED wall use?

It depends on the panel type, brightness and content.

Power draw changes with brightness and with what is on screen: bright, white content uses more than dark video. We confirm the power supply your screen needs as part of the quote.

How much does it cost to rent this LED wall?

The calculator shows a net price range for your configuration.

Prices are net, per m² of screen per event day, and include delivery, installation, setup and dismantling. Indoor screens on a ground-stack structure start from €84 per m² per day, hanging indoor screens from €95 and outdoor IP65 screens from €112. Operator and technician shifts are quoted separately.

Is the calculated price final?

No — it is an estimate.

The range is calculated from screen size, mounting type, indoor or outdoor location and selected extras. We confirm the final net price after checking the venue, dates and technical conditions, and send the full quote within 24 hours.

What happens after I send the configuration?

A technical specialist reviews it.

We check availability for your dates, clarify missing details and send a full quote within 24 hours. Please book at least a week before the event. We install anywhere in Poland, and across Europe for large projects and trade shows; in Warsaw we deliver and install on the same day.
